Westmeath Councillor To Retire From "Frustrating" Life In Politics

John Shaw has been a local representative for 15 years.

A Westmeath Councillor says he's calling time on his political career as it's become a lot more "tedious" and "frustrating" in recent years.

Fianna Fail's John Shaw says he won't be contesting the next local election - after spending almost 15 years on the council.

He says the role is requires a lot of time and patience and he has a young family and other interests he wants to pursue.
