The total value of the scholarship is worth €2,500.
Four students from Athlone have been awarded scholarships from a midlands solicitors.
The Barra Flynn Memorial Scholarship is presented by Tormey's Solicitors, and supports students that attain the highest Leaving Certificate points and who have chosen to pursue a legal course at a Third Level Institution.
It's awarded to pupils in Athlone, Moate, Ferbane, Ballymahon, Roscommon, Ballinasloe and Tullamore School areas.
The First Place Student winner of 2023 was Mary Doyle from Athlone and past pupil of the Bower Secondary School, who's is now studying law at Trinity College Dublin.
Kate Mannion, also a past pupil of the Bower Secondary School who is continuing her studies at UCD., claimed the second place prize.
While third-place went to two students from Bower Secondary School, Ashling Kenny and Ella May Dowling, who are now studying at UCG and UCC, respectively.
The Scholarship Fund in total is valued at over €2,500.00 with €1,200.00 for First Place, €600.00 for Second Place and €300.00 for Third Place.
To recognise the school’s contribution, Tormeys Solicitors also donates the sum of €500.00 to the winning school.
