One charity are reporting that over 60% of its cases in the region have to do with anxiety issues.
Anxiety is the most common mental health issue in the midlands.
Turn2Me, a national mental health charity, has released its figures which show 64% of people who present to them in Laois, Meath, Offaly and Westmeath have problems with anxiety.
They are also treating a variety of types of anxiety, such as work stress, financial pressure and fears over exams and even the climate.
22% are seeking help for depression and 8% are dealing with relationship issues.
They have also noticed a shift in the most common age bracket, with the majority of their users falling into the 20-26 group, rather than the previous year reporting 18-24 year olds.
CEO of Turn2Me and Tullamore's Fiona O'Malley, says " People use our services for lots of different reasons. While we’re a small charity, we punch way above our weight, helping around 10,000 adults living in Ireland every year."
