The incident took place in the Farronshock area of Mullingar on Monday.
A young boy has died after a collision with a car in Westmeath.
It happened shortly after 6.30pm yesterday evening, at the Farranshock Estate in Mullingar.
He was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The scene remained sealed off overnight and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
