Plans for a new modular café in Westmeath have been refused after objections from the owners of a nearby Shopping Centre.
Tiane Ltd had proposed installing two connected 20-foot modular units at the Diskin Centre in Athlone, featuring a café, seating area and toilet facilities.
The owners of Golden Island shopping centre raised concerns over pedestrian and vehicle safety, site access, accessibility and the visual impact of the development.
Westmeath County Council agreed with many of the objections, describing it as "visually intrusive."
