A midlands Junior Minister says he didn't even consider running for Fine Gael leadership in the wake of Leo Varadkar stepping down.
Longford Westmeath TD Peter Burke gave his support to Further and Higher Education Minister Simon Harris to become leader of the party earlier today.
Minister Harris looks almost certain to take that position and become Taoiseach, after Heather Humphreys and Pascal Donoghue excluded themselves from the running this afternoon.
Minister Burke says he feels he would need Cabinet experience first, but isn't ruling himself out of running for position in the future:
