IFA Estimates €900m Needed In Assistant Payments Next Year

Uncertainty around CAP reform and Brexit are said to be key factors.

Farmer representatives will be calling for increased financial supports in the upcoming budget when they meet the Finance and Public Expenditure ministers later.

The Irish Farmers Association says roughly €900m in assistance payments is needed next year from the EU and government.

It says the funding has never been more critical due to the increasing uncertainty around CAP reform, climate action and Brexit.
