Pádraig Mooney, Bord na Móna engineer and Unite trade union representative, says the whole community has been rocked by the alarming pace at which the government is closing down the West Offaly Power Station.
He says the recently appointed Commissioner has been visiting plants in the midlands this week, but now needs to be afforded the opportunity to divise a concrete plan for the wind-down peat generation.
A protest is taking place in Shannonbridge at 2 o'clock tomorrow - organised current and former staff, who are worried about the future of jobs and pensions.
