A new course is being made available for diabetes patients at the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.
DAFNE - or Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating aims to teach participants how to manage their blood glucose levels by accurately calculating their insulin dose needs.
It has been shown to significantly reduce diabetes complications and takes 5 weeks to complete, with and pre- and post- course appointments, an online learning module and video group support calls.
Those over 17 and under the care of the diabetes service at the hospital can register by informing their consultant, nurse or dietician of their interest.
