It looks like plans to install a new 'community hotel' in a Midlands town are unwelcome, and will meet significant opposition.
Roscrea has been without a hotel since the closure of Racket Hall which became a direct provision centre amid weeks of protests in January of last year.
Since then Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Smith, and now retired TD Jackie Cahill, proposed that the government purchase the former Grant's Hotel in the town and run it as a community hotel.
An update of the proposal is due before Tipperary County Council next month.
However, Independent Councillor in Roscrea Shane Lee says the plans are ill-conceived and are unlikely to pan out:
