The Housing Committee Chair believes the Stock Condition Survey will play a role in updating social homes.
The State has to put a "massive" amount of money into surveying social housing across the country.
That's according to Longford-Westmeath TD Micheál Carrigy who wants to see the Department of Housing deliver the required investment to assess the standard of housing under the control of County Councils.
The Housing Committee Chair believes the Stock Condition Survey will play a vital role in updating older social housing stock and improving living standards.
He says it's important to ensure investment is directed where it is needed most:
