Peter Ormond is the latest Offaly rep to announce his intention to run.
Councillor Peter Ormond has become the latest politician to enter the race to be Fianna Fail's number one candidate in Offaly for the forthcoming general election.
The Birr rep topped the poll for the Municipal District in the local elections in June, coming out with just under 2 thousand first preference votes.
It's expected the party's selection convention will be held in the next four weeks.
Mr. Ormond says he has a long track record of electoral success:
He joins Councillors Eddie Fitzpatrick and Tony McCormack, who have already announced their intentions to seek the party's nomination at the selection convention in Offaly.
