A protest is taking place in Athlone this Saturday.
Thousands of people are expected at a national protest against the Mercosur trade deal in the Midlands this weekend.
Saturday's demonstration will begin at 11am with a tractor and truck cavalcade assembling on the Monksland side of Athlone on the N61, and end with a rally at the TUS Athlone International Arena.
Over 300 stewards will be involved in marshalling traffic in the area for what's expected to be an attendance of between five to 10,000 people.
Midlands MEP Ciaran Mullooly believes it will be one of the "most significant community national protests" ever seen in Ireland.
