A major housing development in Westmeath has been given the green light.
Permission has been granted by Westmeath County Council for a 75-unit residential estate in Cornamaddy.
51 houses, four of those two-storey, the remaining 47 three-story have been granted approval in the proposal.
24 apartment units have also been planned, split evenly between three-story an duplexes.
This development is phase one, and will form part of a larger project in the future.
As part of the conditions of approval, Westmeath County Council have sought development contributions, which totaled over 500,000 euro.
