The 2024 Garda Youth Awards took place last night with young people from all over Westmeath receiving awards.
A young person in Westmeath has been recognised for his heroic efforts saving a life.
Tyrone Donoghue risked his own life to save a baby in a buggy which rolled into the canal in Mullingar in February.
He received a 'Special Achievement Award' at the Garda Youth Awards in Westmeath last night.
The award recognises someone who overcame a difficult circumstance and defied all the odds.
