The funding was announced today by the government.
Local authorities across the midlands will receive over €3.1m in government funding to distribute among private home owners with disabilities who need to adapt their homes.
A further 790,000 will also be added by the three councils to the means tested fund.
The maximum grant will be €30,000, while specific grants of 8,000 and 6,000 will also be available for older people needing essential repair work or mobility aids installed.
