The Laois centre is one of four planned across the country.
A new Urban Search and Rescue regional hub is to be built in Laois as part of a new government plan.
The USAR hubs will deal with rapid deployment to emergencies across their region as needed, with hubs also planned for Dublin, Galway and Cork City.
Chief Fire Officers have been outlining the need of these services for incidents like building collapses following the Creeslough tragedy in 2022.
They have backed the USAR hubs during their annual conference taking place in Galway this year.
