It comes after Cabinet agreed tougher sentences for those caught with a knife.
Nearly 600 knives have been seized by midlands Gardaí since 2020.
Figures released from the Justice Minister show 2022 saw the largest number of those, when 168 knives were seized by officers in the Laois Offaly and Meath Westmeath divisions.
There's been 21taken by the Meath Westmeath division so far this year, while there's no data available for 2024 in Laois Offaly.
Cabinet yesterday approved measures which could see anyone found with a knife, with the intention of carrying out a crime, see a maximum sentence of seven years.
That's an increase from the previous legislation of five years.
