Birr Cathaoirleach John Leahy says the town's roads allocation is just under €282,000.
€3.2 million - that's the amount Councillors for an Offaly town are seeking from Government to completely clear a backlog of applications on the Roads Improvement Scheme.
The programme helps local authorities to repair rural laneways and access roads not maintained by the public.
Birr Cathaoirleach John Leahy says the current allocation for roads in Birr sits at almost €282,000.
He says over 90 applications were received last year for the scheme alone, with only three or four put through each year.
