Both burglaries took place within a week.
Gardaí are investigating a possible link between two aggravated burglaries in the midlands.
A man in his 70s was assaulted by two people at his home in Athlone on Saturday, September 2nd, and a sum of cash was taken.
Less than a week later, on Friday, an elderly couple, in their 70s and 80s respectively, were also assaulted by two people and cash was stolen from their home in Cartron Drive.
Anyone with any information in relation to either incident is being asked to contact Athlone Garda Station.
