Drew Harris will be subject to a motion of no confidence by Sinn Féin.
A former Justice Minister says he has "full confidence" in the Garda Commissioner.
Current Justice Minister Helen McEntee will face a Sinn Féin motion of no confidence this week, with both her and Drew Harris' roles coming into question in the last week.
Party leader Mary Lou McDonald announced the move on Friday, after criticising the handling of the riots in Dublin City Centre last week.
Laois Offaly Fine Gael TD, Charlie Flanagan, is commending the work of the Gardaí, and says Sinn Féin is engaging in a "political stunt:"
Environment Minister Eamon Ryan will not be travelling back from COP28 for tomorrow evening's vote of no confidence in the Justice Minister.
The Green Party leader had been facing criticism after it emerged he would be flying back from Dubai especially for the Dáil vote.
The Minister for the Environment, Eamon Ryan, has been offered a Dáil pairing arrangement by Social Democrats TD Jennifer Whitmore.
He said this will allow him to stay on and continue his work at the COP28 in Dubai, rather than having to rush home for the vote of no confidence in the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee.
Yesterday, he said he would have leave COP28 for two days to return for the vote.
However, this morning, he said that he was contacted last night by Deputy Whitmore who offered the arrangement which would free him up to continue his work at the summit in Dubai.
Minister Ryan had received some criticism, because the round trip from Dubai to Dublin, just to cast one vote, would have essentially doubled his carbon emissions for the trip.
