The news comes from the latest report of homelessness from the Housing Department.
Homelessness in the midlands has now jumped 25% in the last two months.
The latest report from the department of housing shows a record number of adults and children accessed emergency accommodation in the region in March.
In January, 245 adults and children were reported as homeless in the midlands by the housing department.
That figure jumped to 281 in February, and increased to 326 last month.
There are now 96 children in the midlands accessing emergency accommodation, up from 82 in February.
On a county by county basis, there were 86 homeless adults recorded in Westmeath, 70 in Offaly, and 52 Laois.
The vast majority of those people, at 55%, were aged 25 - 44, 12% were aged 18 to 24, 29% were 45 to 64, while 3%, or seven homeless adults were aged over 65.
Nationally, more than 10,700 adults and over 4,600 children were accessing Emergency Accommodation at the end of March.
The total of 15,418 people is another new record.
