Pippa Hackett is seeking to become the first non-Dublin based leader of the Green Party.
Offaly Senator and Minister of State in the Department of Agriculture, Pippa Hackett will be running for leadership of the Green Party.
Senator Hackett is making the announcement following Eamon Ryan's decision to step down as leader of the Greens yesterday.
As things stand, Minister Hackett will be competing for the leadership with the Minister for Integration Roderic O'Gorman, who announced his candidacy this morning.
A contest can be expected to last between two and three weeks as it did in 2020 when the outgoing Eamon Ryan saw of the challenge of Catherin Martin.
