The amount of female candidates nationally has risen more than 40% from the last election.
231 women have been selected or have indicated they'll run in the General Election- with 19 of these candidates running in the Midlands.
That's according to the latest figures from Women for Election.
5 candidates are running for 3 seats in Laois, 8 candidates for the 5 seats in Longford-Westmeath and 6 women for the 3 seats in Offaly.
Nationally, 62 candidates are local councillors elected in June, 30 are TD'S in the Outgoing Dáil and 15 are serving senators.
It's an increase of 43% from the last election - and is 38% of all candidates called so far.
The figures also show this election is the first to meet the 40% candidate gender quota, with all parties with Daíl representation meeting it except Independent Ireland.
