A member of the Gardaí and another driver were hospitalised.
A man remains in a serious condition in hospital this morning following a high speed chase in Co Longford.
A Garda was also hospitalised in the incident.
Gardai received reports of a man driving erratically on the Ballinalee Road at around 4pm yesterday.
As officers approached the vehicle, he fled the scene, hitting a Garda member who was on foot.
Over the course of a pursuit, the man collided with a patrol car, before later crashing into a wall.
He was taken to Tullamore Hospital and is being treated for serious injuries.
The injured Garda was treated for a fracture to his arm, and has since been discharged.
The incident has been referred to the Garda watchdog, GSOC.
