A Midlands detective at the centre of the 'bikegate' scandal was never given an opportunity to explain his situation.
That's the message from the Garda Representative Association after Eamonn Cunnane was given a three minute standing ovation at the GRA's annual conference in Westport yesterday.
Mr Cunnane was subjected to a criminal investigation over an unclaimed bike loan to a neighbour in Westmeath during Covid.
A three year suspension was imposed, before he recently settled a personal injury case in the High Court against the Minister for Justice and the Garda Commissioner for €250,000 and has been reinstated since the incident.
