Repairs are being carried out in Birr and the surrounding areas today.
Uisce Éireann crews are currently working to repair a burst watermain in an Offaly town.
Customers in Birr and its surrounding areas are experiencing water supply disruptions as a result, and may experience outages, low water pressure and discoloured water during repairs.
James Joyce, Water Operations Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "Our priority is to return water services to the community as quickly as possible while ensuring repairs are completed safely. We understand the disruption that water outages can cause for homes, businesses and the wider community, and we would like to thank customers in Birr Town and the surrounding areas for their patience while crews carry out these essential repairs.
Our teams have been mobilised and are working to repair the burst and restore water supply to affected customers. Every effort is being made to minimise disruption and restore supplies as quickly as possible."
Traffic management is in place on the N52 at Riverwalk, opposite the service station, to facilitate repair works.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when travelling through the area and to follow all traffic management measures in place.
Customers are reminded that it typically takes two to three hours following repairs for normal water supply to fully return.
However, restoration may take longer for customers located at the end of the network or on higher ground.
Uisce Éireann regrets the inconvenience caused and thanks the Birr community for its patience and understanding while crews work to restore water supply.
