The Laois hurlers had to "work hard" through challenging conditions to keep their Joe McDonagh Cup campaign alive on Saturday.
That's the view of O'Moore County boss Willie Maher after his side finished 15 point winners over Kildare in Portlaoise.
The final score was 1-23 to 0-11.
That win leaves Laois needing a victory against Kerry and for an already qualified Offaly to beat Carlow to book a midlands derby in the Joe McDonagh Cup final at the end of the month.
