According to the National Parks and Wildlife service coursing events are taking place across the Midlands in areas including Ballinagar, Edenderry, Rathdowney/Borris in Ossory and Westmeath.
The Irish Council Against Blood Sports says a meeting in Doon in November saw 8 hares hit, 4 pinned, 6 examined for injury, and 4 given painkillers.
A protest calling for a ban on hare coursing will take place outside Dáil Éireann from 1pm to 2pm ahead of the debate.
