Nationally, there was an increase but of only just over 1%.
There has been a slight decrease in the number of electric cars in the midlands.
So far in 2024, 188 electric cars have been registered across Laois, Offaly and Westmeath, eight less than the in January and February last year.
Laois was the only county in the region to see and increase, with e-car ownership going up by over 37%.
Both Offaly and Westmeath have less e-cars now compared to the same period in 2023, falling by 29% and 17% respectively.
Nationally, there has been a rise in electric car registration but just 1.4%.
