It's going towards community groups and small to medium size businesses.
Over €1.5m in Just transition funding is to be given to community groups and small to medium businesses in the midlands.
Six projects have been announced by the Minister for the Environment to receive funding in the region - three in Offaly, two in Westmeath and one in Laois.
The investment is intended to aid in the development of green energy ideas, community hubs and to create employment and diversify the local economy.
The amount provided to selected projects from the Just Transition fund now reaches almost €54m.
Minister Eamonn Ryan says "Small-to-medium enterprises and local community organisations are the life blood of a region, creating jobs, helping to diversify the economy and generating ideas and innovation."
