Half Of Stalking Or Harassment Victims Don't Go To Gardaí

A new study has found of the 42% of victims that did go to Gardaí, their experiences were more negative than positive.

The first ever Irish study of stalking and harassment has found half of victims did not go to Gardaí. 

It was down to a fear of not being believed or taken seriously, according to research by UCC and the Sexual Violence Centre in Cork.

42% of victims did go to Gardaí - but their experiences were more negative than positive.

The majority of those being harassed or stalked knew their perpetrators, with over two fifths saying they threatened to harm them or someone close to them.
