As it stands, the living wage is set to become €12.17 an hour.

The decision to convert the minimum wage to the living wage is a 'hard commitment.'

That's according to Junior Minister for Employment Damien English, who says while the amount may change, the minimum an employee can be paid will be 60% of the median wage by 2026.
