There is a four week window in which local and European election candidates can erect their posters.
A midlands tidy towns committee will be reminding local election candidates about an advisory ban on posters during the elections this summer.
Research by Abbeyleix tidy towns has found over 80% of people are in favour of a poster-free town.
Candidates will be permitted to erect posters and other forms of canvassing from May 8th, with a requirement for all posters to be taken down within 7 days of the vote on June 7th.
