There's been a 76% increase in the last two years.

A new campaign aimed at encouraging women into careers in the construction industry is underway.

It comes as the latest figures show they only making up eight percent of the total workforce.

There's been a 76% increase in the number of women working in industry in the past two years.

But Offaly's Tom Parlon, head of the Construction Industry Federation, says that's not enough:

5,400 joined the industry since the end of 2017, bringing the total to 12,500.

Coolderry man Mr. Parlon admits more needs to be done to attract women into the sector:
