It follows an investment of almost €10m
An Offaly water supply has been removed from the list of vulnerable supplies in Ireland.
Uisce Éireann invested 9.7 million euro in upgrading the Clara Water Treatment Plant, which provides over 7 thousand customers with access to water.
The Environmental Protection Agency has now removed the supply from its Remdial Action List, which identifies areas at risk of not receiving safe, clean drinking water.
This supply serves areas in Offaly, including Clara, Ferbane, Ballycumber, Belmont, Doon, Shannonbridge and Shannonharbour.
Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Ian Walsh, says: "We want to thank the local community for their support and patience while the work was underway. With this project complete, we can ensure the continued delivery of safe, clean drinking water to the wider community across Clara and Ferbane."
