Laois Champion Paddy Buggy is involved in efforts in the O'Moore County.
The Laois Champion of the community response forum says the biggest challenge was simply getting the message out.
Paddy Buggy was given the role of coordinating around 14 different groups when the initiative began at the end of last month.
It was created to ensure a thorough response and to enable all voluntary agencies to collaborate in support of the most vulnerable members of the community.
Mr. Buggy says the calls they've been taking have evolved recently:
