Around the country in 2023, there were 43 work-related deaths.

Three people died in work-related incidents in the midlands last year.

The Health and Safety Authority says two of those were in Laois, while there was also one in Westmeath.

Around the country, there were 43 work-related deaths in 2023.

It's an increase of 15 compared to 2022, with the farming and construction sector making up over two thirds of fatalities. 

Half of those who died were 55 or older, and just over half were self-employed.
