Tullamore is by far the worst affected area in the midlands, with 157 new covid cases recorded in the last week.
The other hotspots are Graiguecullen/Portarlington with 109 cases and an incidence rate of 388 - and Mullingar with a rate of 351, after recording 91 new cases in the last week.
While other local electoral areas remain much lower in comparison, Moate, Birr and Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick all recorded a rise in covid levels in the last seven days.
At the moment, Athlone is the least affected area in the region.
