From today refugees arriving here from Ukraine will be housed primarily in tents.
Its because of a chronic shortage of alternative accommodation.
The Department of Integration has signed a six week contract for glamping tents at the Electric Picnic site in Stradbally.
They'll be used to house up to 750 Ukrainian refugees on a phased, contingency basis.
The summer months have seen an increase in the number of arrivals from Ukraine, with more than 10,000 people fleeing here since May 1st, an average of around 650 people per week.
