80km Speed Limit Introduced For Some Trains As Storm Isha Makes Way Through Ireland

A weather warning is in place as a result of the storm.

Red wind warnings have come into effect in two counties in the north-west, as Storm Isha makes landfall.

Met Éireann says the storm is tracking to the north-west and won't cross the country, but will still cause severe disruption.

Galway and Mayo are now in the red wind alert, with Met Éireann warning of dangerous coastal conditions, treacherous travelling conditions, and the risk of significant and widespread power outages.

That warning will end at 9pm, when Donegal will then enter the red warning until 1am.

The rest of the country is now under an orange wind warning until 2am.

A tornado watch has been issued for Ireland as Storm Isha approaches.

There are reports of trees down at Tullamore Golf Club, as well as in Clonminch.

Torro says strong tornadoes are possible across the island, but would be localised if they do occur.

There's also been significant disruption to air, train and bus travel.

Dozens of flights have been cancelled and diverted to and from Dublin Airport, while delays are expected to trains as speed restrictions are in place for western services.

Bus Éireann will be suspending buses in Mayo and Galway from 4pm until the end of the day, while services in Donegal will also be called off during the red warning from 9pm to 1am.

Commuters are being advised to expect delays on some western Irish Rail services this evening, with an 80 kilometre per hour speed limit in place for all train services operating between Athlone and Galway, and between Athlone and Westport and Ballina.
