The Athlone Chamber of Commerce says they're optimistic about an ambitious new plan to make the town a green city by 2040.
The Ballymore Group led by Sean Mulryan is aiming to carry out the Athlone Town Plan to make the area a sustainable area of urban growth.
It involves expanding the student population of TUS Athlone, a new student village and 20,000 new zero carbon homes in the first phase.
CEO of Athlone Chamber of Commerce Tommy Hogan says he's willing to discuss the plan further with the group:
