That's according to Offaly Councillor Noel Cribbin, who wants more gardaí on the streets of Edenderry.
Meetings between senior members of the force in Offaly and local politicians included discussions about staffing the station in the town 24 hours a day.
Councillor Cribbin believes more garda visibility in Edenderry will bring down crime figures, as it did in the aftermath of the Dublin riots two tears ago.
