New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the number of new homes being constructed in the Midlands is on the rise.
More than 500 new homes were completed in the second quarter of the year in the region.
That's up 41% compared to the same period last year.
The CSO figures show Laois has the highest increase in the region at 78%, followed by Westmeath at 27%, whereas Offaly has seen an increase of just 8%.
Nationally there was an increase of 35% in the number of new homes completed in the second quarter of the year.
