Jennifer Carroll MacNeill is bringing the Credit Union (Amendment) Bill before the Oireachtas tomorrow.
The Junior Finance Minister believes the Credit Unions are well-placed to fill the vacancies left behind by the closure of Ulster Bank branches in the midlands.
Sites in Portlaoise, Athlone, Tullamore and Mullingar closed their doors for the final time in April of this year, as part of the bank's withdrawal from the Irish market.
Jennifer Carroll MacNeill is in Mullingar today for discussions with North Midlands Credit Union, before bringing a bill, which would increase flexibility around the common bond, to the Oireachtas tomorrow.
