They are seeking planning permission for 70 residential units.
A decision on a controversial housing development in the midlands is due next week.
Marina Quarter Limited is seeking planning permission for 70 residential units on a 10 hectare site in Cornamaddy in Athlone.
The plans include the provision of 60 three-bed homes, four two-bed houses and six four-bed units.
The application has been met with concerns, due to the presence of a local badger sett, and an attached document highlights a mitigation plan for the animals.
But a submission to Westmeath County Council believes that plan "would only lead to the death of the Cornamaddy Badgers."
A decision from the local authority is due next Wednesday.
