Public order offences in the county also declined.
Drug related crimes in Laois have fallen by over 30%.
Figures from the county's Joint Policing Committee show simple possession cases decreased by nearly half, while instances of possession for sale or supply fell by 26%.
Members of the Joint Policing Committee also heard public order offences are on the decline, when compared to this time last year.
Crimes of that variety fell from 72 to 56 in the first quarter of 2024.
The number of burglaries in the county dropped by 6%, but theft from the person and theft from shops saw increases.
Collisions causing serious injuries in Laois fell to six cases, while cases of crashes leading to non-serious injuries also dropped to 17.
However, collisions resulting in just material damage are up from 197 this time last year, to 214.
