Drivers were detained from Saturday through to Monday.
Six drivers have been arrested in Laois for drug and drink driving over the Bank Holiday Weekend.
On Saturday night a woman was arrested in Ballyroan at 11:30pm and a man was arrested on the N77 Durrow at 9:30pm.
While on Sunday on the Portlaoise road in Mountrath, a motorist was arrested at midnight, and another was arrested at Togher Portlaoise at 1pm.
Drivers were also detained for driving under the influence on the Dublin Road in Portlaosie and the Mountmellick Road in the early hours of yesterday morning.
In one case, a driver was found to have no tax or NCT on his vehicle, and approached a checkpoint with the seatbelt plugged in behind him. He also had an outstanding bench warrant.
The driver in question tested positive for cocaine and opiates. The vehicle was seized by the Laois Roads Policing Unit and the driver was due for a court sitting on Monday.
Another driver, who failed a roadside test for alcohol consumption, was found to have a quantity of cannabis in his vehicle. The driver later also tested positive for cocaine. Legal proceedings are now underway.
