Food Safety Authority of Ireland Serves Laois Business With Closure Order

The order was served on the premise's butcher counter.

Ten closure orders were served on restaurants and shops last month by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.

Some of the reasons include rat droppings where food is stored, open bins filled with meat and surrounded by flies, and aprons covered with blood and dirt.

Three of the businesses are in Dublin, two are in Monaghan, and the others are in Laois, Cavan, Meath, Clare and Waterford.

In one business, flies were observed on a sandwich preparation board, while in another, wet and dirty clothes were strewn around a kitchen.

The FSAI says it's particularly concerned over the large number of Enforcement Orders in July, and is emphasising that food businesses have a responsibility to maintain clean and hygienic premises.
