Calls are being made for further work to be done in order to fill GP vacancies.
The Government is committed to supplying neccessary services to communities, including GP positions.
The comment comes from Longford-Westmeath TD and Junior Finance Minister Robert Troy following Sinn Féin's claim that shortages in housing and school places are leading to extended GP vacancies in the Midlands.
New figures from the HSE showed that a practice in Coole, Co. Westmeath had to advertise their post three times over a two-year period before successfully recruiting a doctor.
